Test Information
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Marshfield Labs.  It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.  This test is used for clinical purposes.  It should not be regarded as investigational or for research.

This test is a screen for the Amphetamines drug group by immunoassay; if the screen is positive, this test automatically includes LCMS/MS confirmation for the amphetamines drug group. Quantitation/confirmation charged separately if needed.  It is intended for use only in patients where an initial drug screening test has not already been performed (i.e. Point-of-Care drug screening cup, dipstick, etc.). The test will detect the presence of amphetamine, phentermine, methamphetamine, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, MDA (methylenedioxyamphetamine), MDEA and MDMA (Ecstasy or methylenedioxymethamphetamine).

The Amphetamine drug group includes a variety of drugs of abuse, diet aids, and vasoconstrictor/decongestants found in OTC cold preparations.

Marshfield

Negative.  Positives are reported with a quantitative LCMS/MS result (phentermine, ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are reported with a qualitative LCMS/MS result).

Interpretation
Methamphetamine metabolizes to amphetamine, therefore both can be present after use of methamphetamine.

The street drug "Ecstasy" is MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine).  MDMA metabolizes to MDA (methylenedioxyamphetamine), therefore both MDMA and MDA can be present after use of Ecstasy.

The approximate detection time of amphetamines in urine is between 1-3 days after last use.
