Gentamicin is frequently used (often in combination with penicillin or a cephalosporin) for the treatment of serious infections, particularly those due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Serratia, Citrobacter, Staphylococcus, and other species.​

Collection Processing Instructions
Transport to lab on wet ice.
Serum should be removed from cells within 60 minutes. 
Indicate exact draw time on tube.
 
Trough: draw specimen just prior to next dose.
Peak(IV): draw 30-60 min. after end of 30-minute infusion, or draw 15 min. after a 60-minute infusion.
Peak(IM): draw 30-60 min. after dosing.​
