Useful For

Glucose measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of carbohydrate metabolism disorders, including diabetes mellitus, neonatal hypoglycemia and idiopathic hypoglycemia, and pancreatic islet cell carcinoma.​

This test is used for non-fasting patients, if patient is fasting order FBS.

Collection Processing Instructions
Samples collected in non-gel tubes must be centrifuged, plasma/serum removed, and aliquoted from cells within one hour.
Samples collected in gel tubes should be centrifuged within one hour of collection.
Samples being sent from regional/outreach centers should not be sent tubes on gel, please aliquot and send.

Rejection Criteria
Specimens not centrifuged and removed from cells within 2 hours

Interference
​Sulfasalazine may interfere with Dimension Glucose assays (Regional labs) and cause falsely depressed results.
For patients receiving treatment, venipuncture should occur prior to drug administration to prevent this interference.
