Test Information
RhIg is a highly concentrated solution of IgG anti-D derived from pooled human plasma and contains about 300mg of anti-D IgG globulin. The administration of RhIg to a D(Rh) negative patient will prevent sensitization and the development of Anti-D by the patient. Send a separate Blood Bank request form for "Rh Immune Globulin".
If FBSC (Fetal Bleed Screen) is positive, the physician must be notified that a Kleihauer-Betke test is required. The Kleihauer-Betke test will determine the number of vials of RhIg needed.
Refer to Fetal Bleed Screen Test procedure
