Collection Processing
Collect catheterized or clean-catch urine. Send specimen (in a Urinalysis tube) to laboratory as soon as possible after collection. The first morning voiding is the preferred specimen. Accurate nitrite testing requires urine to remain in the bladder for 4 hours prior to collection and testing.
