Specimen Requirements

Collection Processing Instructions
Stem cells will be harvested by the Dialysis unit. Transfusion Service will process, freeze and store the units. Contact the Transfusion Service before scheduling this procedure.
 
Samples to be collected:
First day of collection:  Two 6 mL Red Top Tubes (RTT)-sent for Infectious Disease Testing (IDT) 
                                   Three 3 mL EDTA Lavender Top Tubes (LTT)-2 LTT are sent for IDT 
                                   One 3 mL LTT is kept in Transfusion Service department
 
Each day after initial collection: One 3 mL Lavender Top Tube (LTT)
 
If the collection process stops and is restarted >1 month from original IDT testing then recollect:
Two 6 mL Red Top Tubes (RTT)-sent for Infectious Disease Testing (IDT)
Three 3 mL EDTA Lavender Top Tubes (LTT)-2 LTT are sent for IDT, one 3 mL LTT is kept in Transfusion Service department​
