Test Code: TA-TG
Synonyms/Keywords
Thyroglobulin (Tg) Antibody, Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody, Anti-TG
Useful For
This test is used to rule out potentially unreliable Thyroglobulin (Tg) results due to interference (endogenous Anti-thyroglobulin antibodies) in the follow-up of patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
Specimen Requirements

Marshfield Monday through Friday 1 day Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (Siemens, Immulite 2000)/ Immulite 2000
Test Information
Anti-Tg values determined by different methods vary significantly and cannot be compared. Patients should be followed by using the same methods. Comparing anti-Tg values from different methods might lead to erroneous clinical interpretations.

For routine screening of auto-immune thyroid disease, anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (Anti-TPO) is recommended.

The drug asfotase alfa (STRENSIQ), a recombinant form of alkaline phosphatase, is expected to interfere with in vitro diagnostic assays utilizing an alkaline phosphatase detection system. Test samples from patients taking asfotase alfa with a non-alkaline phosphatase methodology.
