Useful For
Intended to aid in the diagnosis of vaginal infections in females (greater than or equal to 14 years old) with a clinical representation consistent with bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis and trichomoniasis.

Test Information

The test utilizes real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the amplification of specific DNA targets and utilizes fluorogenic target-specific hybridization probes to detect and differentiate DNA from: ​

  • Bacterial vaginosis markers (Individual markers not reported) 
  • Candida spp. (C. Candida spp. (C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, C. dubliniensis))
  • Candida glabrata
  • Trichomonas vaginalis
​ ​If Trichomonas vaginalis is suspected in a male, order TRICNAM.
If a yeast infection is suspected in a female 14 years or younger or in a male, order FUNG (Funcal Culture)
