Useful For

​Desmopressin (trade name DDAVP) is a synthetic analog of vasopressin. It causes release of von Willebrand factor from endothelial cells and can be used to treat mild to moderate von Willebrand disease​ (mostly type 1) and less commonly mild hemophilia A. A desmopressin challenge is used to assess the efficacy of this approach before administering it during bleeding episodes or before invasive procedures.
